Vanity Fair stated that Tolman, "calmly" and "assuredly" took over the show. Tolman was awarded the Critics' Choice Television Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress in Movies/Miniseries. In addition she was nominated in the category of Best Actress were received at the Emmy Awards as well as the Golden Globes.
